In 2014, the Memorial Bridge originally designed in 1922 by J.A.L. Waddell was replaced by a new bridge with cutting-edge technology. The new design maintains the spirit of the old design, but employs the use of new technologies throughout to improve safety and long term durability while reducing operating costs. One of the “new” technologies that was selected to reach these goals was the use of an e-chain® cable management system with chainflex® cables from igus® in the place of the “old” standard droop cable system.
