Greased ball bearing systems were originally considered for this application, but the grease would have leached into the surrounding environment, causing pollution and damage. Remotion came to igus® to find a more environmentally friendly solution, and ultimately decided upon drylin® linear bearings, which do not require any external grease or lubrication.
