Remotion Application Solution with drylin® Linear Actuators

Robots performing environmentally conscious tasks shouldn’t have a negative impact on the environment — yet this was almost the case with an underwater robot from Remotion designed to treat ship hulls. Greased ball bearing systems were originally considered for this application, but the grease would have leached into the surrounding environment, causing pollution and damage. Remotion came to igus® to find a more environmentally friendly solution, and ultimately decided upon drylin® linear bearings, which do not require any external grease or lubrication. The drylin bearings offered corrosion-resistance, reduced maintenance costs, and zero environmental pollution.
